Challenges of modern para-religious rituality

The modern world is gradually edging out religious traditions. Some react with an ultra-conservative stance, while others try to keep some elements of religion alive, notably rituals. They try this to compensate for the lack of social bonding left by the vanishing religious structures. Rituals, taboos, communities, very often focused on our relationship to our bodies, are coming up. Food and fitness are the main issues...

The Celtic world managed to welcome Christian teachings and rituals in their early form without giving up the essence of its own animistic heritage. While Christianity offered answers to existential issues such as evil and injustice pertaining to civilization, the Spirits of the wilderness became saints and carnivals allowed the quadir-annual festivals to carry on.
